MENTAL HEALTH DISASTER TEAM.
In 1989, the Red Cross officially recognized a need for a systematic and organized plan for the mental health needs of disaster survivors.
Over the next two decades, the Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Services program has been developed and evolved.
Disaster Mental Health volunteers are licensed professionals from the fields of psychology, psychiatry, nursing, social work, and marriage and family therapy.
These volunteers assist both disaster victims and other Red Cross workers and volunteers to cope with the overwhelming stresses encountered in the aftermath of a disaster.
ALL FESTIVAL DONATIONS MADE DURING DATES OF EVENT AUGUST 20 - 22, 2010, WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE KERN COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH DISASTER TEAM.
